And Aubrey was her name. A not so very ordinary girl or name. Or so says the song my parents named me after! :)
It is a goal of mine to be not so very ordinary! I've spent a lot of my life feeling unimpressive, unworthy, and struggling to feel beautiful in a culture that worships unattainable beauty standards. I have only, in the last few years, tapped into the amazing freedom that comes from seeing my worth!
Through the practice of self-care, I experienced true healing and I'm now a health and wellness coach helping others to find the same.
In a world that tells us to be flawless, I've learned that our flaws are what make us unique. Instead of being told what is beautiful, I say we define it for ourselves. We are made to feel that our worth is dependent on our looks, our weight, our success,or our relationship status, but the truth is we were born worthy! Understanding that is the key to freedom.
I lead an ever growing group of women that are rejecting unattainable beauty standards, practicing self care, and breaking the hold that these lies have had on us. Who are WE looking for? We are looking for women that are tired of avoiding mirrors, opting out of photos, and comparing themselves to other women. We are looking for women that are ready to trade in self loathing for self respect!
Weight gain and health issues aren't the problem, they are a symptom of a problem. If you have "failed" on your health journey before, you are in good company! We all have failures to share and victories to celebrate, and in the end it's the internal transformation that is so vitally important. The outside changes we want to see? Those are simply a byproduct of a healthy life, inside and out. Don't let past failures hold you hostage! We would love to come along side you, speak the truth, and encourage you! We share our stories openly and vulnerably and create an environment for others to do the same.
This blog is my journey and my story, which right now takes place in Denver with 2 beautiful little girls and an amazing husband that, you will find, keeps me laughing and balanced in my health journey! I hope you will find, as I share, encouragement, hope, and help!
And most importantly, i hope I remind you daily how worthy and beautiful you truly are! I can tell you life becomes such an amazing adventure when we step out of the shadows and truly start living! I want that for YOU!
Our group is called Angels of Valor because it takes bravery to step out into the light and a life affected by this kind of change cannot help but reach out and affect the world.
I've always loved this scripture:
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." Romans 12:2
All lasting change comes from renewing our minds, taking in truth and walking away from negative patterns. We must forge a new pattern. If our minds are transformed, our bodies will follow.
We have a monthly book club and support group ( Heart of a Warrior, check the tab above!) for women looking to transform their minds and lives through truth! Please join us!
