Success leaves clues and this is one that I have noticed. It all starts with an emotion, right? We feel discontent, or envy, or insecure, or unhappy. We start comparing ourselves to others, noticing what they HAVE and we decide that if we had THAT thing, a spouse, a fancy car, owning our own home, a better body, THEN we could be happy or fulfilled. We set our sights on that thing and then we DO the actions we think we will get it for us.
Two things come from this place: 1. We get it and find ourselves still fully discontent and unhappy and set our eyes on the next thing. We enter into a cycle of chasing an ever moving target, blaming circumstances and other people for our unhappiness and creating an endless path of destruction. 2. We DON'T achieve or acquire the thing and we choose to believe that we don't have what it takes, other people are just lucky, or we have no real control over our lives. From this place we can feel jaded, disillusioned, and generally sour about life. We want no encouragement. We want people around us to simply admit that life wasn't fair for us and let us sulk. It's because we have it backwards! When we think if we HAVE the thing, that we will want to DO the actions and we will BE the person we want to be. It's completely the opposite. BE. DO. HAVE. Each day we have choices. The mundane everyday choices from what we eat for breakfast to how we spend our leisure time, to how we interact with our loved ones and co-workers. In terms of our health, the focus cannot be on HAVING a fit body. If that is our only focus than after a week of eating healthy and exercise we are going to look in the mirror, see how little progress we have made and throw in the towel and that is exactly what most people do. Instead, if we want true transformation, we have to work at BEing that version of ourselves. We have to have the commitment that we are going to BE a person that takes care of their body and that commitment of integrity and purpose is what helps us push through in the discouraging moments to DO the work because its not about HAVING something, its about who we are and who we want to BE. The people that grasp this and get their focus on being instead of having are the ones that find excellence, success, and joy in their lives because their lives are being built on integrity and they are controlling the one thing they have control over-themselves! They become disciplined because they have true vision. We cannot control circumstances, life throws punches. We cannot control other people, and when we try the results are NOT good! But we can do the hard work of knowing who we are, who we want to be, and showing up to our lives with vision to forge a future we are proud to live! THAT is the point of starting a program and joining a challenge group! It's not to walk through it perfectly, it's a training ground. It's where we go public with who we want to be, it's where we learn to use the tools, it's where we try and fail, learn about ourselves, and try again. It's where we are surrounded by other people pursuing growth and integrity who remind of us our vision when we doubt. We are in the arena together and we would LOVE to have YOU join us! Our next challenge group starts on October 2nd! Message me to get more details!
